Selecting the correct Fabric Type in the order form helps tailors choose the right needles, threads, and pressing settings—reducing risk of puckering, shine, or broken stitches.
Fabric | Choose This Option | Why It Matters | Extra Time |
---|---|---|---|
Denim (Jeans) | Jean (Denim) | Heavy, tightly woven; tailors switch to heavy-duty needles and matching top-stitch thread. | +½–1 day |
Leather / Suede | Leather | Needs specialised walking-foot machines; holes are permanent, so precision is critical. | +2 days |
Silk / Satin / Rayon | Standard (Regular) | Lightweight but slippery; tailors use micro-needles and fine thread. | +½ day |
Wool Suiting / Tweed | Standard (Regular) | Thick but pliable; steam pressing and bias stitching techniques prevent shine. | no extra |
Stretch Jersey / Lycra | Standard (Regular) | Tailors switch to ballpoint needles and stretch stitches to avoid popped seams. | +½ day |
Beaded / Sequinned Fabrics | Standard (Regular) + note “beaded” in details | Beads must be removed and re-attached around seams; labour-intensive. | Tailor quotes extra time & cost |
Tip: If your fabric isn’t on the list, upload close-up photos and mention the material in Item Description. Tailors will confirm the correct handling before accepting.
Why choosing the right option is important #
- Prevents costly rework or Job Failed cancellations.
- Ensures turnaround times are accurate—heavy or delicate fabrics often add a day.
- Lets the tailor quote any necessary surcharges up front (e.g., leather needles, bead removal).
When in doubt, select Standard (Regular) and describe the fabric in Alteration Details. Support will adjust the order if a special category is required.
