Working with leather and suede calls for specialised machines, needles, and adhesives. The table below shows what iSeam.uk tailors can and cannot handle.
Service | Accepted? | Notes |
---|---|---|
Zip replacement | ✔ | Tailors will match the original colour and metal type where possible. |
Panel patch / tear repair | ✔ | Tears under 10 cm are patched and edge-skived for a flush finish. |
Edge re-stitch | ✔ | Re-sews loose top-stitching on cuffs, seams, or pocket edges. |
Lining replacement | ✔ | Full or partial; satin or cotton linings available. |
Hardware replacement (snaps, rivets) | ✔ | Must match original size; brass, nickel, or gunmetal only. |
Re-dye scuff / colour touch-up | ✔ | Suitable for minor surface scuffs; final shade may vary slightly. |
Full recolour / tanning | ✖ | Requires industrial dye vats—outside tailoring scope. |
Synthetic “PU” leather repairs | ✖ | Material flakes; stitching accelerates peeling. |
Severe water or fire damage | ✖ | Leather fibres shrink or harden—cannot be restored. |

Packing Tips #
- Do not fold along tears – pad damaged areas instead.
- Avoid airtight plastic wrap – leather needs to breathe; use paper or cloth.
- Add a silica packet if transit may exceed three days.
